Pumpkin Carving, Pumpkin Seeds, And The vi Editor

Another day come and gone. I was late at work last night because just as I was getting up to leave, my pager went off due to a build release. I didn’t want to drive all the way home just to have to logon again and triage, so I just stayed here and watched until about 8pm when it finally finished. While waiting, I scored about 230,000 on Bookworm, an awesome game that Erin found online. Popcap Games has a ton of cool little Java games you can play to while away your day, should your day need whiling.

When I got home I wrote out a check for the DJ for the wedding, and then sat down to carve some pumpkins. I made one little guy who just has two eyes and a mouth. Pretty good and simple, but then I tried to get creative on the second one with a pair of Aces. Ehh. It looks OK, but not as good as it could have been. Of course, as soon as I got the seeds out Erin swooped like an avatar of the Cucurbita pepo and swiped them all in order to prepare a culinary masterpiece: baked pumpkin seeds.

Finally, I never learned to use the vi editor when I was going to school. pico was always my choice. Butnow it seems reasonable that I know that kind of thing, so I got a book and am trying to pick up all of the keyboard shortcuts. This might take a while.

Happy whazzing!
